Nature is calling in the Hudson Valley. Here are just some of our favorite areas for you to go out and explore.

The Village of Goshen has direct access to the Heritage Trail which is an 18 mile linear trail that extends from Middletown to Monroe. You can bike, walk, run or skate. No motorized vehicles. There is a great bird watching area going towards Goshen from 6 1/2 Station Road.

Local Parks & Playgrounds

Salesian Park is located a block down Main Street from the inn. Salesian offers a walking path, dog park, benches, nature path and a soccer field. The Goshen Public Library is adjacent to the park.

Myron Urbanski Memorial Park is located in Goshen just 1.3 miles from the inn. This park is also referred to as Land O Goshen or Craigville Park. This park offers soccer and baseball fields as well as a large playground and a covered pavilion and bathrooms.

Sally’s Dream is nestled on 20 lush acres within Thomas Bull Memorial Park located 6 miles from the inn. The playground is heralded as a playground for every child, with two play structures and a large web-modeled rope climbing structure. Special features include long, wide ramps that double as wheelchair-friendly access points. There is a pavilion, picnic areas and bathrooms.

County Parks

Thomas Bull Memorial Park is located in Campbell Hall, just 6 miles from the inn. The park offers an 18-hole golf course and driving range at Stony Ford, a banquet facility, pro shop, tennis courts, boat house, ball fields, horse riding area/stables, 5-acre pond, fishing, picnic shelters, picnic tables, benches, exercise area, The Orange County Arboretum, playgrounds, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and the Hill-Hold Historic Museum.

Winding Hills Park in Montgomery, is 12 miles from the inn. The park offers fishing, boating (car-top boats only), playground, horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, picnic shelter, grills and nature trails. During the winter, if conditions permit: ice skating, ice fishing and snowmobile trails.

The D&H Canal Park is a 249-acre park with a one mile section of the Delaware and Hudson Canal. This park is also home of the Neversink Valley Museum, which features classic canal era exhibits and memorabilia. The D&H Canal is located 22 miles from the inn in Cuddebackville, NY.

Hiking Trails

Appalachian Trail spans 35 miles from the New Jersey border to the Hudson River. A lengthy portion offers scenic views of Greenwood Lake. It also winds its way through the Bear Mountain Wildlife Center, the most popular section of the entire trail. Another highlight in this section is the Stairway to Heaven in Vernon, NJ.

Storm King State Park offers unsurpassed views of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. Hikers enjoy this undisturbed green space. Storm King State Park is in Cornwall, NY 20 miles from the inn.

Stewart State Forest offers 6,700 acres of wetlands, fields and forest, including 18 miles of gravel roads and more than 22 miles of major trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, bird watching and fishing. The forest is located in Rock Tavern, 13 miles from the inn.

State Parks

Bear Mountain State Park offers a wide range of things to do and see, including: playing fields, picnic groves, lake and river fishing access, rowboat docks, a swimming pool and bathhouse, hiking trails, a seasonal ice-skating rink, Trailside Museum and Zoo, and a merry-go-round and pavilion. Bear Mountain State Park is located 21 miles from the inn.

Harriman State Park is a large park system, with 31 lakes and reservoirs, 200 miles of hiking trails, two beaches, two public camping areas, a network of group camps, miles of streams and scenic roads, and scores of wildlife species, vistas and vantage points. Harriman State Park is located 25 miles from the inn.

Minnewaska State Park Preserve and Sam’s Point is situated on the dramatic Shawangunk Mountain ridge, which rises more than 2,000 feet above sea level. The park features numerous waterfalls, three crystalline lakes, dense hardwood forests, incising sheer cliffs opening to beautiful views, clear streams, and 50 miles of footpaths to bike, walk, hike and simply enjoy. Minnewaska is located 28 miles from the inn.

Bashakill Wildlife Management Area has the largest freshwater wetland in southeastern New York. You can hike, canoe, kayak, bird-watch and fish. The Bashakill area is located in Wurtsboro, NY in Sullivan County about 21 miles from the inn.

High Point State Park covers 15,413 acres, with over 50 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding and snowmobiling. The park also offers High Point Monument that you can climb to see the vast view, plus beaches, picnic grounds, concession areas and campgrounds. High Point is 23 miles from the inn in Sussex, NJ.

Wawayanda State Park offers forested hills surrounding Lake Wawayanda perfect for swimmers, canoeists, boaters and fisherman. A nineteen-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail runs through the park for hikers, while the top of Wawayanda Mountain offers sensational views. More than sixty miles of trails are marked in the park. The park is located in NJ just 17 miles from the inn.
